What does the word ‘basic’ conjure up in your mind?
Every time I see a clothesline it reminds me of basics, wholeness and simplicity. Yes, I can imagine what other thoughts might come up …
Not many of us want to go back to ‘antiquated’ ways of living. On the other hand, many of us longingly think of “how things used to be”. We sat around the table and talked with each other. We greeted each other and asked meaningful questions … we cared. Remember?
Forward to basics is my clarion call to revisit the relevance and impact of some of the old ways. In today’s workplace, mindful leaders now ask progressive, yet basic questions about beliefs, thoughts, aspirations and yes, feelings too. The transformative effects that heart-based approaches have on leaders and their teams are being discovered and rediscovered every day.
Although the answers may be intricate, basic inquiries about the role our minds and emotions have on essential decision-making and increased productivity opens doors to greater possibilities.
Choosing a few key basics takes us beyond working with what is often described as ‘human capital’. Instead, we journey back inside to directly influence, align and encourage a human being to perform optimally and in harmony both at work and play.
Forward to basics!
