I Have A Dream

I have a dream that one day we will be brave and bold enough to face the answer to the question: Who are we? If we don’t uncover all our wounded places, how do we confront the damage? So, to acknowledge we are the good, the bad and the ugly, is to admit that, collectively, we add up to all of these things — only then can we address what needs to be healed and changed.

There are so many diverse parts that can make up a whole. Do we deny that they are as much a part of the collective ‘we’ because their intentions and actions lean toward hatred rather than embrace love? Or do we lead by example and focus on the change (in us) that is required to reach, persuade, and teach those being led by negative forces – teach them how to transform their own thinking?

I have a dream that we will reach the promised land that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned for us all. I have a dream that we will embrace and build up the inherent good that lives within us, and that we will have the courage to root out the destructive flaws that tear us apart.

And I have a dream that we will reach a day when the question ‘who are we’ is asked, the answer will be “We are One – that’s who we are!”

We are One!
