Mastery

Does achieving mastery sound like a specific goal you have set? I know it didn’t used to be something that was on the top of my list.

There’s so much else we need and want to get to – being healthier in time for summer; determining whether you keep your job – or – negotiate a raise; figuring out whether it’s safe enough to get on a plane and explore the world again. But, think of it this way, so much of who we aspire to be and what we intend to accomplish requires mastery of one thing or another.

And how do we accomplish higher states of mastery? We imagine playing the piano yet can’t seem to practice quite enough. We want the A+ job rating but can’t seem to fit in that self-study course. One of the hardest and most challenging of all areas we could achieve mastery in is self-mastery. Self-mastery 101 isn’t taught in schools – and it is the key that unlocks any other forms of mastery.

Until we understand our powerfully unique make-up as human beings; until we understand how to change our physiology and transform our lives; we are not likely to achieve our fullest potential.

Strange that it is almost easier to define the internal workings of a zygote and describe that it contains all the essential factors for development than it is to do the same for ourselves.

And like the makeup of a zygote, if we want to grow and flourish, we need to possess all the essential factors for self-development.

It’s almost Spring – another time of new beginnings. Time to add self-mastery to our lists!
